As a way to try and combat the registering spam bots, I have the forums set so that your account has to be approved before you can actually post.
When I see a "Unapproved" account, I send them an email with the following message:
Hello,
You or someone using your email address recently registered on
TheGamersSyndicate.com
Unfortunately, as a security measure, we do not allow automatic
registration on our site.
TGS is an exclusive gaming community where registration has to be
authorized by an admin.
This is to try and combat the automated registering spam bots that
litter the internet with garbage.
If you would please reply to this email with how you found our site
and if a TGS member referred you, then we can authorize your account
activation.
If we do not receive a reply with 48 hours, the account will be deleted.
If you did not try to register on TheGamersSyndicate.com, please
disregard this email.
If you are a spam bot, then I hope you and your family die a slow and
painful death in a fiery car crash.
